Daily Itinerary

Day 1 March 31 – USA to the Holy Land

Your pilgrimage begins as you depart the USA on an overnight flight.

Day 2 April 1 – Welcome to the Holy Land

You will be welcomed to the Holy Land by our representative and transferred to your hotel in Tiberias to enjoy dinner before retiring for the night.

Day 3 April 2 – The Galilee

With Bible in hand, cross the waters of the Sea of Galilee. Along the way, participate in a special onboard worship service. Visit Caesarea Philippi, where Peter told the Lord, “You are the Christ!” (Matthew 16). At Kibbutz Nof Ginosar, you’ll learn about the “ancient boat”, a rare example of the kind of boat in which Jesus would have sailed. You’ll also visit the Chapel of the Primacy, where three times Peter professed his devotion to the risen Christ (John 21). Travel to Capernaum, the center of Jesus’ ministry in the Galilee. Visit the synagogue, which stands on the site where Jesus taught (Matt.4:13, 23). Travel to the Mount of Beatitudes, where Jesus preached to the people (Matt. 5-7). End your day at the Yardenit Baptismal Site, where you can remember your baptism at the Jordan River. Enjoy dinner and your overnight stay in Tiberias.

Day 4 April 3 – Valley of the Doves, Megiddo, Mount Carmel, Caesarea

Explore the massive excavations at Beth Shean, a city continuously inhabited for over 5,000 years, including when the Philistines hung the bodies of King Saul and his sons from its walls (1 Sam. 31). Travel the ancient caravan route through the Jezreel Valley to Tel Megiddo, where 20 different cities lie superimposed upon each other. Visit Magdala, the hometown of Mary Magdalene and tour the recently excavated synagogue. Visit the Roman aqueduct and theatre at Caesarea, a center of the early Christians. Here, Cornelius became the first Gentile convert to the new religion (Acts 10) and Paul was imprisoned before being taken to Rome for trial. Enjoy dinner and your overnight stay in Tiberias.

Day 5 April 4 – Mount Arbel, Sepphoris, Nazareth, Cana, Samaria, Jacob’s Well

Travel to Mount Arbel and walk along its peak for a stunning view of the Sea of Galilee and the area in which Jesus ministered, with extended views of Mount Hermon in the north and Mount Tabor in the south. Visit Sepphoris, the cosmopolitan Roman capital of Galilee until Herod Antipas built Tiberias. It is heralded as the traditional birthplace of Mary and possibly where Joseph and a young Jesus labored. Today, we’ll visit Nazareth, Jesus’ boyhood home (Matthew 2: 23) and Cana, the site of Christ’s first miracle. Continue past Tal Dothan, thought to be the place where Joseph found his brothers with their flocks (Genesis 37). Visit modern-day Nablus (Ancient Shechem) and see Jacob’s well, where Christ encountered the Samaritan woman (John 4). See Mount Ebal and Mount Gerizim, where the Israelites recited the blessings and cursings of the law. Enjoy dinner and your overnight stay on the shores of the Dead Sea.

Day 6 April 5 – Jericho, Qumran & Masada

This morning, visit the baptismal site at Kasr el Yehud, the traditional site of the baptism of Jesus by John the Baptist. Next, we will visit Jericho, the oldest known inhabited city in the world. Visit the ruins of the ancient city, which was conquered by Joshua (Josh. 6: 1,2,20), and see parts of the ancient city walls that have been uncovered. From Jericho, you can see the traditional site of the Temptation of Jesus (Matt.4: 1-11) and the Judean wilderness. Travel to Qumran, the site of the Dead Sea Scroll discovery, to discuss the mysterious community of the Essenes who once lived on the shores of the Dead Sea. Visit Masada, Herod’s mountaintop fortress, which became the last stronghold of the Jewish Rebellion against the Romans. Ride the cable car to the top to explore. Peer down upon the remains of the Roman camps and siege ramp below. Time permitting, you’ll stop briefly at the shores of the Dead Sea for a quick dip in the salt and mineral-laden waters. End the day just off the Roman road where Jesus “walked” the Wadi Qelt gorge, also known as the Valley of the Shadow of Death, the site of the Monastery of St. George. Enjoy dinner and overnight on the shores of the Dead Sea.

Day 7 April 6 – Jerusalem

Begin your touring today standing atop the Mount of Olives as Jesus did and enjoy a remarkable view of the “Golden City” of Jerusalem, including the Temple Mount. Forty days after His resurrection, Jesus ascended into heaven from the Mount of Olives (Acts 1: 9-12). Walk to the Garden of Gethsemane and pray there as Jesus prayed (Matt.26:36-44). Visit the Israel Museum, where the first-century model of the City of Jerusalem. Also, view the Shrine of the Book, where the Book of Isaiah, discovered among the Dead Sea Scrolls, is displayed. Continue to Bethlehem and visit the cave where Jesus was born and the church ,which has been constructed on the site (Matthew 1: 18-25; Luke 2: 1-7). Nearby, visit Shepherds’ Field, where the Good News was first heard. Enjoy dinner and overnight in Jerusalem.

Day 8 April 7 – Jerusalem

This morning, enjoy a walking tour of the Old City of Jerusalem and walk the Cardo, the ancient main street of the Old City once lined with shops and now partially restored. Visit the Davidson Center and the Southern Wall Excavations, including the Teaching Steps and the Western Wall. View the Pool of Bethesda (John 5: 1-31), where Jesus performed the Sabbath miracle. Visit Herod’s Antonia Fortress, where Jesus was brought before Pontius Pilate (Luke 23: 1-11). Walk the Via Dolorosa, “the Way of the Cross”, and stand in reverence at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. Visit the Garden Tomb, the possible site of the garden of Joseph of Arimathea, and experience the reality of the Resurrection. Enjoy dinner and overnight in Jerusalem.

Day 9 April 8 – Mount Zion, Ein Karem, Emmaus, Valley of Elah

On Mount Zion, you will view the site of King David’s Tomb. Stand in the Upper Room, revered as the site of the Last Supper (Mark 14: 12-26). Walk through some of the ancient rooms in the House of the High Priest Caiaphas, where Jesus was held overnight before His crucifixion (Luke 22). Visit Ein Karem, where Mary visited with Elizabeth prior to our Lord’s birth. Travel to Emmaus, where Jesus, after His resurrection, was invited to visit with two of his disciples who did not recognize Him until He blessed and broke bread with them (Luke 24:13- 17, 28-31). After dinner, continue to the airport for your return flight to the USA.

Day 10 April 9 – Return to the USA or Enjoy an Extension.

Return home with memories of the people and places of the Holy Land.

April 10 – Jerash
This morning, you will journey across the Allenby Bridge on your way to Jerash, one of the best-preserved Roman cities in the world. Stroll through the oval piazza and wander along colonnaded streets etched by the wheels of ancient chariots. Stand in the grand theatre where an onstage whisper can be heard in the top row. Continue to your hotel for dinner and your overnight stay.

April 11– Madaba & Mount Nebo
Travel to Madaba, the City of Mosaics, to visit the Church of Saint George with its sixth-century, Byzantine, mosaic map showing Jerusalem and other holy sites. Continue to Mount Nebo, where Moses caught a glimpse of the Promised Land (Deut. 34). On a clear day, you can see all the way across the Jordan Valley and the Dead Sea to the rooftops of Jerusalem and Bethlehem. Return to your hotel for dinner and your overnight stay.

April 12 – Petra
Begin your journey south towards Petra today. Explore the city of Petra. Its entrance passes through a long, narrow gorge known as the Siq and can only be accessed by carriage, horseback or on foot. Once inside the city, marvel at the intricate detail of a city that was cut into the cliffsides of rose-colored rock. Travel to your hotel at the Dead Sea for dinner and your overnight stay.

April 13 – Free Morning at the Dead Sea
Enjoy a free morning at your hotel. Cross the border back into Israel and enjoy dinner in Jerusalem. Afterward, you will travel to the airport in Tel Aviv to begin your journey home.

April 14 – Return to the USA

Enjoy a day at leisure in Jerusalem. Explore the ancient city on your own or rest at the hotel. Breakfast and dinner are included in your hotel stay.

April 11 – Jerusalem to Mount Sinai
Travel in the footsteps of the Holy family as you travel along the ancient caravan route from Jerusalem to the Sinai desert. Cross the border and check in to your hotel near Mt. Sinai for dinner and rest. 

April 12 – St. Catherine’s Monastery
This morning, you can opt to climb Mt. Sinai, where tradition says that Moses received the Ten Commandments. Everyone will experience a visit to the fortified St. Catherine's Monastery, built in the 6th century, and one of the oldest working monasteries in the world with the world's oldest continually operating library. Both the Codex Sinaiticus and Syriac Sinaiticus, important early Biblical manuscripts were discovered here.  Even Mohammed found refuge here, and the site is sacred to all three monothesitic religions. Remember the story of Moses and the burning bush, which is a tradition that is placed inside the monastery. Continue to Sharm el Sheik for dinner and overnight at your hotel located on the shores of the Red Sea.

April 13 – Luxor & Karnak. 
This morning fly from Sharm el Sheik to Luxor, ancient Thebes, which served as the Egyptian capital during the New Kingdom and time of Moses.  Visit the magnificent Temple of Luxor with its avenue of sphinx statues and mighty monumental columns. Continue to the Karnak Temple, which was built over 2,000 years ago and is the largest religious building ever constructed, and see the famed Hypostyle Hall, the Obelisks of Queen Hatshepsut and Tutomosis III, the temple of Amon, the Granite Scarabeus and the Sacred Lake. Board your Nile cruise ship and enjoy dinner.

April 14 – Valleys of the Kings & Queens & Esna
Enjoy the sunrise over the Nile River this morning before you visit the Valley of the Kings. Tombs were constructed here for Egypt's kings and powerful nobles for nearly 500 years. The valley stands on the west bank of the Nile, across from Thebes (modern Luxor), within the heart of the Theban Necropolis. See the Colossi of Memnon, made of sandstone from Gabal El Silselah. Each colossus, including the pedestal and the crown, is about 21m tall and represents King Amenhotep III. See the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut, one of only a handful of female rulers in Ancient Egypt. Her reign was the longest of all the female pharaohs. Sail to Esna, enjoying afternoon tea before visiting the Temple of Khnum. Dinner & Overnight onboard. 

April 15 – Edfu & Kom Ombo
Visit the Edfu Temple on the west bank of the Nile. Dating to the Ptolemaic period, the temple was dedicated to the worship of god Horus represented as a falcon. It is one of the most beautiful Egyptian temples, distinguished by its huge, splendid structure that blends Pharaonic and Greek architecture. Enjoy lunch onboard as you sail to Kom Ombo to visit the Kom Ombo Temple. Built on a hillside, this temple was constructed in the Ptolemaic Roman era for the worship of the gods Haroeris and Sobek. It is noted for the relief engravings on its walls, which show ancient surgical tools, bone saws and dentistry tools. Nearby, view the three mummified crocodiles in Hathor's chapel.

April 16 – Aswan
Set sail on a smaller boat across the Nile to visit the temples at Philae, including the Temple of Isis, one of the greatest temples in Egypt, which occupied a quarter of the island. Next, visit the High Dam, one of the most outstanding architectural achievements of the twentieth century. It was constructed to replace the old Aswan dam built in 1902. The 3600-meter-long dam was constructed to protect Egypt from the floods and provide its citizens irrigation and electricity. View the unfinished obelisk, which is made of red granites brought from the quarries of Aswan. After exploring Aswan, fly to Cairo to check in to your hotel for dinner and overnight.

April 17 – Cairo
This morning, visit the Egyptian Museum of Antiquities to view the unique collection of Pharaonic art and the renowned treasures of King Tutankhamen. Afterward, visit the Pyramids of Giza, constructed over 1,000 years before the birth of Moses. See the Great Sphinx and have the opportunity to ride a camel in the desert near the Pyramids. Tour the Old City and see the Citadel of Saladin, built in 1183 A.D., and view the Alabaster Mosque of Mohammed Ali. In Old Cairo, visit the Abu Serge Church, which was built over the traditional site of the house where the Holy Family lived during their stay in Egypt. Prepare for your return flight home.
