Daily Itinerary

Day 1 March 3 – Depart the USA to the Holy Land

Our pilgrimage begins as we depart the USA on our overnight flight.

Day 2 March 4 – Arrive in Israel

We will welcomed at the Tel Aviv airport and transferred to our hotel in Netanya for dinner and our overnight stay.

Day 3 March 5 – Caesarea Maritima, Nazareth & Megiddo

This morning, after our first Israeli buffet breakfast, we make our way to Caesarea by the Sea, where Peter preached the Good News to the Roman Centurion Cornelius. We will travel to Megiddo (Valley of Armageddon), then on to Nazareth, the birthplace of our Lord. We continue to the tiny village of Cana, where our Lord performed His first miracle. Here, we will celebrate a renewal of wedding vows. We pass Mount Hittin, where Saladin defeated the Crusaders on July 4. We arrive at our beautiful hotel on the banks of the Sea of Galilee. Enjoy dinner and overnight at our hotel.

Day 4 March 6 – The Galilee

We stop at Kibbutz Nof Ginosar, where we will see the “Jesus Boat,” discovered in the Sea of Galilee after nearly 2,000 years. Then, enjoy a service aboard a boat on the Sea of Galilee. We make our way to the Mount of Beatitudes and remember to hear the Teachings of Christ (Matthew 5 - 7). We travel to Tabgha, where Jesus multiplied the loaves and fishes. We continue to the Church of St. Peter’s Primacy, where Peter declared Jesus as Lord. Enter the 2,000-year-old remains of Capernaum (Luke 4) and stand in what is left of the synagogue where our Lord ministered. We travel to Magdala, home of Mary of Magdalene. Walk a portion of the Valley of the Doves, our Lord's original road from Nazareth to the Sea of Galilee. We finally wind up at our hotel for dinner and our overnight stay.

Day 5 March 7 - Upper Galilee

This morning, we make our way to the Tel of Hazor, the site of the ancient city of Hazor. We continue to Caesarea Philippi, where Peter made the Great Confession. In the distance stands Mount Hermon. We will see the Golan Heights, overlooking Syria in the distance. We walk the site of Tel Dan, home of the Tribe of Dan. We visit the beautiful Dan Nature Preserve. Stop at Mount Bental and see the UN observation center and into Syria. See the streets of Bethsaida, one of the “cities of woe” mentioned by Jesus in Matthew 11 and where Jesus chose five of His disciples (Matt. 4:18 -21; John 1:39 -51). Remember your baptism (or get baptized) in the Jordan River at Yardenit, where the Jordan exits the Sea of Galilee. We return to our hotel for dinner and our overnight stay.

Day 6 March 8 – Samaria

This morning, we make our way to Beit Shean, where the Philistines hung the bodies of Saul and his son Jonathan. Pass the Mount of Transfiguration. We continue through the Valley of Jezreel on our way to Samaria, the site of King Ahab’s Palace. We will enjoy lunch in Sebastia (not included in the price), and then we travel through the valley between Mount Ebal and Mount Gerizim, the Mountain of Blessing and Cursing. We travel to Nablus, where we visit Jacob’s Well, where Jesus preached to the woman at the well. Continue to our hotel in Jerusalem for dinner and our overnight stay.

Day 7 March 9 – Bethlehem

This morning, we travel to Bethlehem and visit the Church of the Nativity, built over our Lord's birthplace. We continue to Shepherds’ Field, where the shepherds saw the star and heard the great news from the angels. We will visit the Israel Museum, where the Dead Sea Scrolls are housed, and where you can visit the site of the model of the first-century city of Jerusalem. Explore the poignant exhibits of Yad Vashem, Israel’s Holocaust Memorial. Continue to the Mount of Olives, where Jesus wept over the city of Jerusalem. We will walk the road Jesus walked on Palm Sunday, winding up at the Garden of Gethsemane. Finally, we are back at our hotel for dinner and our overnight stay.

Day 8 March 10 - Masada, Jericho, Ein Gedi & the Dead Sea

We will enjoy a cable car ride up to Masada, Herod’s Winter Palace, and the place where the Jews held out against the Roman Army, finally committing suicide rather than surrendering. We will visit the Ein Gedi, where David hid out from King Saul in the caves. Stop for a visit to Jericho (the oldest city in the world) and visit the ruins of the ancient city conquered by Joshua. Nearby is the traditional site of the Temptation of Jesus. We will make a stop at the Dead Sea, where you can float in the water where the minerals are so strong you cannot sink! Look out over Wadi Qelt and the Old Roman Road on our way back through the Judean Wilderness, passing the Good Samaritan Inn. We wind up back at our hotel in time for dinner and our overnight stay.

Day 9 March 11 – Jerusalem

We make our way to the Temple Mount, where the beautiful Dome of the Rock stands on the traditional site of Solomon’s Temple. We make our way to the Wailing (Western) Wall, the only remnants of Solomon’s Temple. Walk along the foundations of Herod’s Second Temple in the Rabbi’s Tunnels. We continue to the Cardo, the excavated main street of Jerusalem, in Jesus’ time. This afternoon, we will visit the House of Caiaphas, where our Lord stood before the High Priest. We will visit Mount Zion, King David’s Tomb, and the Upper Room. Wander through the excavations of the City of David. Walk the steps to the Pool of Siloam, recently uncovered at the foot of the city. Explore Hezekiah’s Tunnel, an amazing engineering feat that was dug from either end and met in the middle! (Note: Those who are claustrophobic may want to meet the group at the other end of the tunnel!). Return to our hotel for dinner and our overnight stay.

Day 10 March 12 – Jerusalem

This morning, we will visit the Church of St. Anne and the site of the Pool of Bethesda. We continue to the Fortress of Antonia, where Jesus was mocked and scourged by the Roman soldiers and the trial before Pilate. We will walk the Via Dolorosa (way of sorrows), finally arriving at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. We finish at the Garden Tomb, the traditional site of the burial place of our Lord, where we will enjoy a communion service. We return to our hotel to freshen up before we enjoy our farewell dinner. Then we head to the airport where we board our flight back to the USA.

Day 11 March 13 – Arrive Home

Today, we arrive back in Atlanta, our hearts filled with many fond memories of this journey of a lifetime.
