Depart on your international overnight flight.

Day 2 October 2 - Arrive in Ireland

Arrive at the Shannon Airport, where our representative will greet you and escort you to your bus. Enjoy a cruise on Lough Corrib with tea & scones, where you will see views of the historic monuments that make this one of the most spectacular waterways in Ireland. Continue to your Galway area hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3 October 3 – Galway & Connemara

Enjoy a walking tour of Galway to enjoy its atmosphere. During the tour, you will see Lynch Castle, home to the mayors of Galway, Saint Nicholas Church, founded in the 13th century, and the famous Spanish Arch. Walk along the Corrib River to the Claddagh village or to the majestic cathedral. Then, depart for Connemara, a land of lakes and rivers, bogs and mountains, stone walls and thatched cottages. On its northern shore, there are spectacular views of the beautiful Killary Fjord. Continue on to Kylemore Abbey, located in the Kylemore Pass in Connemara. One of Kylemore Abbey’s most famous features is its miniature Gothic cathedral, built in 1870. Continue to Cong for a stroll through the history of Ireland and its people. Return to your Galway area hotel for dinner and your overnight stay.

Day 4 October 4 – The Burren, Cliffs of Moher & Adare

Depart for the Burren to see its dozens of megalithic tombs and Celtic crosses. Look out over the Cliffs of Moher, situated on the Atlantic Ocean. Standing over 700 feet above the sea at their highest point, the cliffs boast one of the most amazing views in Ireland. Adare is regarded as one of Ireland’s most picturesque villages, with thatched cottages dotted throughout the town. John Wesley preached to the people of Adare in 1765 from the shade of an ash tree close to the east wall of the Franciscan Friary. Today, a stone marks the site where this tree stood. Stop at Ballingrane to visit the Embry Heck Memorial Church, built in 1766, which John Wesley visited thirteen times over the years. Continue to your hotel in the Killarney area for dinner and overnight.

Day 5 October 5 – Worship in Killarney and Ring of Kerry

This morning, worship with a local Methodist congregation. Enjoy a full day tour of the Ring of Kerry, one of the most famous and panoramic routes in Ireland. You will pass the birthplace of national hero Daniel O’Connell and continue to the town of Waterville. Visit Muckross House, a magnificent Victorian mansion built in 1843. The gardens are famed for their beauty worldwide. Return to your Killarney area hotel for dinner and overnight.

Day 6 October 6 – Blarney Castle

Visit Blarney Castle, situated in the Blarney village near Cork. An ancient stronghold of the McCarthys, it is one of Ireland’s oldest and most historic castles. Blarney Castle is famous for its Blarney Stone, which is traditionally believed to have the power to bestow the gift of eloquence on all those who kiss it. Travel to the port city of Kinsale for dinner and overnight.

Day 7 October 7 – Kinsale & Cobh

Start your day in the port city of Kinsale. Take a trip to the famed Charles Fort, one of the finest examples of a 17th century Star Fort. See Desmond Castle, home to the Earls of Desmond from 1500. St. Multose Church was built here in 1190 and remains in use to this day. The courthouse was used for the inquiry over the sinking of the Lusitania in 1915. Continue to Cobh, where transatlantic ships such as the Queen Mary and Queen Elizabeth used to stop. Thousands of Irish emigrants also transited through Cobh. Visit St. Coleman’s Cathedral, which has a carillon of 47 bells. Enjoy a walking tour of Cobh and the Titanic Trail to see the buildings, streets and piers where Titanic passengers embarked. Visit the Titanic Experience, situated in the original offices of the White Star Line. Return to Kinsale for dinner and overnight.

Day 8 October 8 – Kinsale to Dublin

Visit the Rock of Cashel, possibly the most photographed site in Ireland, towering over the town of Cashel from its perch on a 200-foot-high outcrop of limestone. Today, impressive stone walls enclose a round tower, a cathedral, a twelfth century Romanesque chapel and high crosses. Continue to Dublin and enjoy a panoramic tour of “Dublin’s Fair City.” You will also see Christ Church, built by the Anglo-Normans in 1172 and Phoenix Park with its many monuments. Continue to your Dublin area hotel for dinner and overnight.

Day 9 October 9 – Dublin

Explore St. Patrick’s Cathedral, built next to the well where Patrick baptized converts on his visit to Dublin. The present building is the National Cathedral of the Church of Ireland (Anglican). St. Patrick’s is adorned with funeral monuments, including the grave of Jonathan Swift (author of Gulliver’s Travels). In 1789, Wesley led a large number of Dublin Methodists to the Cathedral for the administration of Holy Communion. Stop at the site of Whitefriar Street Carmelite Church, the first Methodist chapel in Ireland. Stop at St. Mary’s Church, where John Wesley’s first sermon was preached in Ireland at what was called Evening Prayer in St. Mary’s Church to “as gay and senseless a congregation as ever I saw.” Stop for lunch (included) at the Church Pub, a church Wesley preached at in Ireland. This afternoon, visit Trinity College, which houses one of Ireland’s most illustrious books, the 9th-century Book of Kells. This evening, enjoy dinner and entertainment at Merry Ploughboys Pub, featuring contemporary Irish dancing and well-known guest artists. Return to your hotel for dinner and overnight.

Day 10 October 10 - Farewell

Transfer to the airport for your return flight home with memories of Wesley and the people of Ireland who share in this rich, Christian heritage.

October 10 – Malahide Castle
This morning, depart Dublin and visit Malahide Castle, set on 250 acres of park land. It was both a fortress and a private home for nearly eight hundred years. The Talbot family lived here from 1185 to 1973, when the last Lord Talbot died. Continue to Belfast and enjoy a driving tour of the city, including areas affected by “The Troubles.” Check into your Belfast area hotel for dinner and overnight.

October 11 – Antrim Coast and Giants Causeway
Travel along the Antrim Coast. You will experience breathtaking views of the Irish Sea as well as hauntingly beautiful moorlands. The grand finale, however, is the Giant’s Causeway. Sometimes dubbed “The 8th Wonder of the World,” the Causeway is an amazing sight with its 40,000 basalt columns rising from the sea. Legend has it that the Causeway was the path built by Irish giant Finn McCool to enable him to fight the giant across the Irish Sea in Scotland. Pass through the Northern Ireland countryside back to Belfast for dinner and overnight.

Today, you will enjoy a morning walking tour of Belfast to visit C. S. Lewis’ birthplace and other childhood sites. Visit the East Belfast Mission, where Wesley’s emphasis on reaching the poor and working class people is put into action. Travel back to Dublin for dinner and overnight.
