Daily Itinerary

Day 1 May 4 - Depart the USA

Your pilgrimage begins as you depart the USA on an overnight flight.

Day 2 May 5 - Arrive Tel Aviv

You will be welcomed to the Holy Land by our airport representative and transferred to your Galilee hotel.

Day 3 May 6 - Northern Galilee

In Magdala, once home to Mary Magdalene, visit a recently discovered first-century synagogue.  View Chorazim, the town cursed by Jesus because He did mighty works there and they “repented not” (Matt. 11: 21).  Travel north through the Golan Heights to Hazor, one of the oldest archaeological sites in Israel. Here, Joshua fought against Jabin (Josh 11:1- 11). Hazor was later fortified by Solomon.  Walk the ancient remains of Tel Dan and see where the altar built by King Jeroboam I once stood (I Kings 12).

Day 4 May 7 - Galilee

Sail across the Sea of Galilee and experience a special on board worship service.  Visit Kibbutz Nof Ginosar and learn about the “ancient boat”, a rare and excellent example of the kind of boat in which Jesus would have sailed.  Enjoy beautiful Capernaum, the center of Jesus’ ministry, and visit the synagogue located on the site where Jesus taught (Matthew 4:13, 23).  Visit the Church of the Loaves and Fish in Tabgha, the traditional location of the feeding of the 5,000 (Luke 9:10 -17).  On the Mount of Beatitudes, contemplate the “Sermon on the Mount” (Matt. 5-7).  Visit Beit Shean, a city continuously inhabited for over 5,000 years.  This is the city where Saul and his sons’ bodies were hung from its walls (1 Sam. 31).  The uncovered ruins date back to the Greek/Roman city that was part of the Decapolis of Jesus’ day.

Day 5 May 8 - Cana, Nazareth, Caesarea Maritima

Travel to Mount Arbel and walk along its peak for a stunning view of the Sea of Galilee and the area in which Jesus ministered, with extended views of Mount Hermon in the north and Mount Tabor in the south. It is a magnificent photo opportunity.  View Cana and the site of Jesus’ first miracle.  Visit Nazareth, Jesus’ boyhood home and the Church of the Annunciation.  Travel the ancient caravan route through the Jezreel Valley to Tel Megiddo, an exciting archeological dig with its layers of twenty different cities built on top of each other.  View Mount Carmel, site of Elijah’s victory over the prophets of Baal (I Kings 18).  Visit the Roman Aqueduct and Theatre at Caesarea, a center of early Christianity and where Paul was imprisoned for two years (Acts 10). Look out over the city of Jerusalem from Mount Scopus.

Day 6 May 9 - Masada, Dead Sea, Qumran

Journey to the oasis of Ein Gedi, where David and his men sought refuge from Saul (1 Sam. 23).  Ascend by cable car to Masada, Herod’s legendary mountaintop fortress, which became the last desperate stronghold of the Jewish Zealots against the Romans.  Visit the baptismal site of Qasr el Yehud, where tradition says Jesus was baptized by John the Baptist.  Journey to Jericho (considered the oldest city in the world) to visit the ruins of the ancient city conquered by Joshua (Joshua 6:1).  End your day with a dip in the salt and mineral-laden waters of the Dead Sea.

Day 7 May 10 - Mount of Olives, Bethlehem

Be inspired by the breathtaking beauty of Jerusalem (“the Golden City”) as you stand on the Mount of Olives, the place from which Jesus ascended into heaven forty days after His resurrection (Acts 1:9 -12).  At Dominus Flevit church, visit the place where Jesus mourned for Jerusalem.  Visit both the Church of All Nations and the private garden area across the road for a time of contemplation in the Garden of Gethsemane (Matt. 26:36 -44).  Explore the Davidson Center and the Southern Wall Excavations, including the Teaching Steps.  In Bethlehem, visit the cave revered as Jesus’ birthplace and see the Church of the Nativity constructed over the site (Matthew 1: 18 -25).  Gaze out over the Shepherds’ Field, where angels first proclaimed the Good News.

Day 8 May 11 - Jerusalem

Pray at the Western Wall and experience it in a new way by participating in the Rabbi’s Tunnel tour. Sing a hymn in the Church of St. Anne, renowned for its beautiful acoustics.  View the Pool of Bethesda, where Jesus performed the Sabbath miracle (John 5: 1-31).  Understand better the Jerusalem of Jesus’ day with a look at the First Century Model of the City of Jerusalem, now housed at the Israel Museum.  The museum itself houses 10,000 years of archeological artifacts.  Also, visit the Shrine of the Book, where the Book of Isaiah, discovered among the Dead Sea Scrolls, is displayed.  Explore the poignant exhibits of Yad Vashem, Israel’s Holocaust Memorial.

Day 9 May 12 - Jerusalem

This morning, conditions permitting, stand on the Temple Mount, where the Jewish Temple once stood and the Dome of the Rock now stands.  Walk the Via Dolorosa, “the Way of the Cross,” and stand in reverence at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre.  Remember the Lord’s sacrificial love at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre.  Take a leisurely stroll down the Cardo, the main street of the Old City, where modern shops stand among ancient ones.  Nearby is the Upper Room revered as the location of the Last Supper (Mark 14:12 -26).  At Dominus Flevit church, visit the place where Jesus mourned for Jerusalem.  Remember the Resurrection with communion at the Garden Tomb.

Day 10 May 13 - Return Home
