George Washington’s Mount Vernon
The first stop is one of the nation’s most beloved historic sites, Mount Vernon. It offers a glimpse into 18th-century plantation life through beautiful gardens and grounds and intriguing museum exhibits. Learn of the history of the mansion through a guided tour as well as the Ford Orientation Center, the Donald W. Reynolds Museum and Education Center, and the distillery & gristmill. You will also learn a great deal about George & Martha Washington, the owners.

Dinner at the Mount Vernon Inn
Dinner is included this evening at the Mount Vernon Inn Restaurant. Savor the flavors of early America at George Washington’s estate.

Five Nights at the Holiday Inn Express Alexandria
This evening, you check into The Holiday Inn Express Alexandria (or similar) for a five-night stay. Included with your rooms is a hot breakfast consisting of eggs, bacon or sausage, oatmeal, fresh fruit, cereal, bagels, yogurt, milk, juice and coffee.

White House Visitors Center
This day of touring is focused on official Washington. Starting at the White House Visitor Center, you will learn about presidential families and how the White House works and operates. Your narrated White House walk continues around the Ellipse, past the OEOB (Old Executive Office Building) and the West Wing, to the opposite side of Lafayette Park. There will be many famous sights along the walk and photo opportunities.

St. John’s Episcopal Church
Also, this morning, you will see St. John’s Episcopal Church in Lafayette Square, a Greek Revival building one block from the White House. This is the church where President Trump was famously photographed holding up a bible following a protest.

U.S. Capitol Visitors Center & Narrated Stroll
Your guide will lead you into the US Capitol Visitor Center through the underground entrance on the east side of the Capitol. You will walk through Emancipation Hall and see the 13-minute film “Out of Many, One,” which illustrates how this country established a new form of government. The tour then continues to the Rotunda and Statuary Hall. The tour continues with a narrated walk on Capitol Hill with commentary about the Library of Congress, Supreme Court, the U.S. Capitol Building and how the business of government flows between them.

The United Methodist Building on Capitol Hill
You will also see The United Methodist Building, the only non-government building on Capitol Hill. It houses the Washington offices of a number of ecumenical groups: the Episcopal Church, the Presbyterian Church (USA), the United Church of Christ, Lutheran Services of America, Church World Service, Islamic Society of North America, and a host of others. It also houses offices of the United Methodist Council of Bishops, United Methodist Women, and the United Methodist Commission on Religion and Race. Our guide will discuss the building and provide a tour if possible. We also hope to visit the Simpson Memorial Chapel on the first floor.

Dinner At Tony & Joe’s
If you’re in the mood for fresh delicacies from the sea, dive into Tony and Joe’s Seafood Place at the Georgetown Waterfront. While enjoying tempting dishes, you have spectacular views of the Potomac River, Kennedy Center, Washington Monument, Roosevelt Island, and the Key Bridge.

After dinner, your guided tour continues with narration as you drive past the most famous of Washington Buildings. You will also stop at the Lincoln Memorial, where you will disembark and learn about its history. Your guide then walks you to “The Wall” at the Vietnam Memorial, then to the Ghost Patrol at the Korean War Memorial, and finally to the WWII Memorial, where you will learn the significance of the 56 pillars and the triumphal arches for the Atlantic and Pacific Theaters.

National Cathedral Tour
This morning begins with a tour of Washington National Cathedral, a spiritual resource for our nation. It is a great and beautiful edifice in the city of Washington, an indispensable ministry for people of all faiths and perspectives, and a sacred place for our country in times of celebration, crisis, and sorrow. From its earliest days, the cathedral has been promoted as more than simply an Episcopal cathedral. Planners wanted it to be a national shrine and a venue for great services. For much of the cathedral’s history, this was captured in the phrase “a house of prayer for all people.” In more recent times, the phrases “national house of prayer” and “spiritual home for the nation” have been used. The cathedral has achieved this status simply by offering itself and being accepted by religious and political leaders as playing this role.

Museum of the Bible, Guided Tour & Film
This state-of-the-art museum in the nation’s capital focuses on the history, narrative and impact of the Bible. As soon as you enter the Museum, through its 40-foot bronze doors, its majesty is undeniable. The grand lobby is long and awe-inspiring, with a digital display on the ceiling that rotates throughout the day. Your tour starts at the History of the Bible galleries on the fourth floor, there are 11 galleries with over 600 artifacts here. The third floor is the Stories of the Bible section, you’ll be immersed in stories of Biblical figures like Noah, Abraham and David. On the second floor, you can fully explore the Impact of The Bible in the World Your experience can continue well beyond the exhibits. The fifth floor features a 500-seat performance theater. The sixth floor contains a restaurant named Manna, which offers a menu inspired by Israeli cuisine.

Following the Museum of the Bible, you will have free time in Old Town Alexandria to visit the shops and boutiques and find yourself a nice dinner.

Sunday Services in the Naval Academy Chapel
Arriving at Annapolis, your group will attend Sunday Services under the famous green dome in the Naval Academy Chapel. This building combines the aesthetics of ancient Israel, the nobility of sea service, and the sacred experience of faith into the fabric of its architecture. Together with 7 other smaller chapels and prayer spaces, the Naval Academy Chaplain Center provides and facilitates for the religious needs of the 4500 strong Brigade of Midshipmen (as available).

U.S. Naval Academy Tour
Also, today you will tour the U.S. Naval Academy. The Visitor Center is the first stop, and you see the 13-minute film, “The Call to Serve.” This is followed by a guided walking tour that highlights life at the academy, past and present.

Annapolis Harbor Cruise
Step aboard to experience a 40-minute narrated cruise of historic Annapolis and the banks of the U. S. Naval Academy. This cruise is an Annapolis tradition and fun for the whole family.

Dinner at Mission Barbecue
After the harbor cruise, you will enjoy an authentic BBQ made from the freshest, most delectable ingredients, and served to you in a patriotic dining room filled with tributes to those who’ve made our country great, given to us by the people who earned them. Following dinner, you have free time to explore the Annapolis Historic District.

St John’s Episcopal Church, Georgetown
This day of touring will focus on the historic churches of Washington. St John’s Episcopal in Georgetown is one of the oldest. The Church of England acquired the land in 1769 before the Revolution. Construction did not begin until 1796. The exterior of the two-story building, measuring 42 x 51 feet was completed in 1804, its interior work continued until 1809 when the church was consecrated. Numerous prominent men made financial contributions for the erection of the church, including Thomas Corcoran, Benjamin Stoddert, Francis Scott Key and Thomas Jefferson.

Metropolitan African Methodist Episcopal Church
The congregation was founded in 1838. It is the oldest continuously black-owned property in the original 10 mile square DC. The funerals of Frederick Douglass (1895), the 1st African American Senator, Blanche Bruce (1898), and civil-rights activist Rosa Parks (2005) were held here. Of more recent news, President Barack Obama attended services here on Sunday, January 20, 2013, before his second inauguration and a Black Lives Matter banner was stolen from the church and burned during a pro-Trump march on December 12, 2020.

This afternoon, is dedicated to the Museums of the Smithsonian. Your travelers can decide which interests them the most and can visit Air & Space, the American Indian, Natural History, American History and more.

Dinner at Carmine’s Italian Restaurant
Carmine’s is a family-style, value-driven restaurant concept with locations in New York City, Atlantic City, New Jersey, Nassau Bahamas, and Washington DC. Restaurateur Artie Cutler created Carmine’s with one goal in mind: to open a restaurant that would serve every meal in the style of an Italian American wedding feast. These meals feature extra-large portions of home-style antipasto, pastas, seafood and meat entrees served on extra-large platters designed for sharing.

Arlington National Cemetery Tourmobile
This morning, take the tourmobile through Arlington National Cemetery. It is an impressive sight, with seemingly endless rows of simple white headstones. Imposing stones and monuments mark the graves of many individuals or groups.

Depart for Home
Following Arlington, your group will depart to the airport and take your afternoon flights home.
