Daily Itinerary
Day 1 SEPTEMBER 6 - FAIRBANKS
From the airport, your transfer brings you to your hotel to meet your Adventure Specialist. The Golden Heart City, with its lively summer ambience and evening sun, is then yours to explore.
Day 2 SEPTEMBER 7 - FAIRBANKS
After a brief city tour, discover gold-rush history, local heritage and only-in-Alaska culture while cruising the Chena River on an old fashioned sternwheeler. From 5:00 p.m., your time is your own. Consult your Adventure Specialist for personalized recommendations.
Day 3 SEPTEMBER 8 - FAIRBANKS | DENALI
The deluxe motor coach transports you to the train station, where you’ll board the glass-domed cars of the Wilderness Express for the scenic rail journey to Denali. From 3:30 p.m., Denali is yours to explore. Your Adventure Specialist can recommend optional activities, from guided hikes to adventures like flightseeing or rafting down the Nenana River.
Day 4 SEPTEMBER 9 - DENALI
Start your day venturing deep into the park, scouting the forest and tundra for native wildlife, on the Tundra Wilderness Tour. After your tour, your time in Denali is your own. Stroll the walking trails or chat with a ranger at the museum-like visitor center.
Day 5 SEPTEMBER 10 - DENALI | ANCHORAGE | SEWARD
Travel in your deluxe motor coach from the wilds to the big city, where you’ll have time to stroll around downtown and explore the Anchorage Museum. Admire the sparkling waters of the glacier-carved Turnagain Arm and the forest-covered mountains of the Chugach on the road to Seward, where you’ll board the ship.
Day 6 SEPTEMBER 11 - HUBBARD GLACIER CRUISING
At 76 miles long and seven miles wide, North America’s largest tidewater glacier makes even the largest ships in the region feel small. Watch massive chunks of Hubbard Glacier’s translucent blue ice crash into the bay with a bang like a cannon shot, a sound the Tlingit people call “White Thunder.”
Day 7 SEPTEMBER 12 - JUNEAU
Juneau is the largest U.S. state capital— and one of the hardest to get to. Flanked by mountains, tundra and rainforests, it’s basically inaccessible except by air or sea. Once you arrive you’ll find adventure in every corner. Go dogsledding over Mendenhall Glacier, or prospecting along centuries-old mining trails. In Juneau, the thrills are as endless as the surrounding wilderness.
Day 8 SEPTEMBER 13 - SKAGWAY
Once the starting point for gold stampeders heading for the promised land of the Yukon, Skagway symbolizes the spirit of Alaska. And now — it’s your turn to hunt for bold. Embark on the trail of the fortune seekers on a vintage train ride with dramatic, sweeping views at every turn. Trek through the dense rainforest and windswept valleys of Chilkoot Trail and follow in the footsteps of Klondike pioneers. Or stroll the charming downtown streets studded with historical buildings. Whatever you get up to in Skagway, it’ll be a day you’ll never forget.
Day 9 SEPTEMBER 14 - ICY STRAIT POINT
If you want to hang in Icy Strait Point, you’re going to have to get a little wild. Go whale watching in Point Adolphus and sea lion spotting. Or gear up to go soaring over mountain forests on the world’s longest zip line. Life here is all about the thrill factor.
