Daily Itinerary
Day 1 Day 1: Monday
Arrive in Washington D.C. and head to the National Mall, where you will meet your local guide for a tour of the monuments and memorials of D.C. First visit the Lincoln Memorial, where Martin Luther King Jr. gave his famous “I Have a Dream” speech in 1963. Then walk to the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial across the Tidal Basin. Continue your walk to the Washington Monument and the White House before heading to the Black Lives Matter Plaza – also known as Lafayette Square. This plaza is the site of protests in June 2020. Head to your hotel to check in. (No meals included).
Day 2 Day 2: Tuesday
Start your morning by visiting Mount Vernon, home of George Washington. Tour the home and explore the grounds of this nation’s first president. Then head back into D.C. for an afternoon with the Smithsonian Museums. Explore these on your own today. (Breakfast Included).
NOTE: One bus transfer back to the hotel at a predetermined time from Smithsonian Museum included.
Day 3 Day 3: Wednesday
Start your morning with a visit to the U.S. Capitol. Enjoy a guided tour here before walking across the street to see the U.S. Supreme Court and Library of Congress. Enjoy lunch before driving to Baltimore. Head to the harbor for a 45-minute harbor cruise. Enjoy the sites of Baltimore Inner Harbor, including Fort McHenry, the fort that helped inspire Francis Scott Key to write “The Star-Spangled Banner.” Check into the hotel in the Inner Harbor area. The rest of the day is yours to explore. (Breakfast Included).
Day 4 Day 4: Thursday
Check out of your hotel and drive to Philadelphia, the city of Brotherly Love. Enjoy a walking tour of the Independence National Historical Sites. Here you can visit a multitude of sites important to the history of the United States – the Liberty bell, Independence Hall, Congress Hall, and many other historic places. Enjoy free time at the Reading Terminal Market for shopping and a delicious Philly lunch. Make sure to stop by the President’s House site, an outdoor exhibit exploring President Washington and his household – including his slaves. If time permits, enjoy a tour of the impressive Philadelphia City Hall. Check into your hotel and enjoy dinner on your own. (Breakfast included).
Day 5 Day 5: Friday
Start your morning with a walking tour of Philadelphia’s historic sites including Elfreth’s Alley, Betsy Ross’s House, and all things Ben Franklin. Afterward, visit the Museum of the American Revolution, which traces the evolution from colonies to a new nation. The rest of the day is yours to explore after that! (Breakfast included).
Day 6 Day 6: Saturday
Fly home from Philadelphia.
NOTE: Group could fly home from D.C. with an afternoon flight if that is preferred.
