Bishop Cynthia Moore-KoiKoi

Bishop Cynthia Moore-Koikoi was elected as a bishop of The United Methodist Church by delegates at the 2016 Northeastern Jurisdictional Conference in Lancaster, PA. She began her ministry as the bishop overseeing United Methodists in Western Pennsylvania on September 1, 2016.

For Bishop Moore-Koikoi, a bishop's role is more than leadership—it's about guiding the church with prophetic vision, evangelistic zeal, and apostolic purpose, all while partnering with the grace of God. She emphasizes the importance of making space for the Holy Spirit’s transformative power, especially in times of division or uncertainty within the denomination. "This is spiritual work," she says. "It’s about remembering who God is and who God has called us to be. With God, we've got this."

A passionate bridge-builder, Bishop Moore-Koikoi is clear and confident in her beliefs while honoring those who may differ in theirs. She envisions a church that reflects God’s justice and embraces the life-changing love of Christ. Though she acknowledges the challenges ahead, she remains steadfast in her commitment to this vision. "It won't be easy," she says, "but I remind myself, God’s got this. God is in control."
