Rev. Patrick and Kay Gahan
Kay and Patrick, childhood sweethearts, have been married for 49 years, have three grown children, and three grandchildren. Kay served as a registered nurse for 48 years, serving most of those years in intensive care units. Patrick was ordained an Episcopal minister in 1988, which led their family to serve primarily in Texas, but also in Tennessee, Maryland, and do relief work in Newfoundland. Kay and Patrick have led missions to Vietnam and Kenya and have worked with atrisk students from the Lakota-Sioux Reservation at Lower Brule in South Dakota in tandem with at-risk students from Theodore Roosevelt High School in Bronx, New York. Prior to his ordination, Patrick served as an infantry officer in the 2nd Armored Division, which was commanded by General George C. Patton in WWII. Patrick was privileged to serve under General Patton’s son for a time in that storied division. His battalion, the 1/41st Infantry, was reclassified as an emergency deployment unit during his tenure, and Patrick was fortunate to mobilize twice during the Cold War and work with the British Army of the Rhine. Kay, for her part, while raising their infant.
