Dr. Leonard A. Wilson has dedicated his life to using oral, written, and visual means to tell the story of Jesus.
 
The conviction that has animated his last few years is this: Jesus is not a means to a better life but life itself. We are made to stop using him and start abiding in him. Everything he writes and teaches now points toward that unhurried country the early church called union, in which we become more like Jesus not by trying harder, but by staying close.
 
That thread runs through More Like Jesus, his twelve-book journey through Mark's gospel, and his method beneath it, The Slow Reveal — an invitation to stop standing over Scripture as a textbook and step inside it, until the story turns and reads you. It is the way Jesus taught, per Mark 4:33-34: stories for all, with the deeper meaning for the ones who stay.
 
A pioneer in the use of visual media and storytelling in church life, Len first practiced his calling as a 24-year-old Media Minister, leading the creative arts ministry of Ginghamsburg Church, one of the great stories of late-20th-century United Methodism in America. From 1995 to 2000, he oversaw the growth of a fledgling volunteer ministry into a nationally recognized program of innovation and effectiveness during a period in which weekly church attendance tripled to over 4,000.
 
In the years since, Len has served on large church staffs, run a ministry serving thousands of churches in creativity, communications, and media, and worked as an editor for Abingdon Press. He has also been a faculty advisor to doctoral students at Portland Seminary, served as Adjunct Professor at Northwest Nazarene University, and been a guest lecturer in several seminaries and graduate schools.
 
He has written or co-written twelve books that have collectively sold over 50,000 copies, produced and directed dozens of award-winning short films, and taught at national and regional gatherings, churches, and businesses. He now serves as Executive Director of Invite Ministries and Publisher of Invite Press.
 
Writing, film, and teaching have never been three trades for Len, but three windows on a single calling to tell the story of Jesus and move people beyond information about God into his presence.
 
A summa cum laude graduate of McMurry University, Len earned his Master of Arts degree in the innovative Religious Communication program at United Theological Seminary and a Doctor of Ministry degree in Semiotics and Future Studies from Portland Seminary. In addition, Len did master's course study work at the Annenberg School for Communication, University of Pennsylvania, prior to pursuing a call to ministry.
 
Len has been married since 1991 and is the father of four creative young adults. He lives under the lordship of Jesus Christ, still learning what it means to abide.
