Daily Itinerary

Day 1 January 23 – Depart the USA

Our pilgrimage begins as we depart the USA on an overnight flight to the Holy Land.

Day 2 January 24 – Arrive in the Holy Land

We will be welcomed at the Tel Aviv airport by our representative and transferred to our hotel in Tiberias to enjoy dinner before retiring for the night.

Day 3 January 25 – The Galilee Focus: Mary Magdalene, Peter’s Mother in Law, Jairus’ Daughter and Healed Woman, Women of Faith

Worship as we sail across the Sea of Galilee. Visit Capernaum, center of Jesus’ ministry in the Galilee, and visit the synagogue built on the site where Jesus taught (Matt.4:13, 23). On the Mount of Beatitudes, contemplate the “Sermon on the Mount” (Matt. 5?7). Explore the Church of the Fish and the Loaves at Tabgha, traditional site of the feeding of the 5,000 (Luke 9:10?17). In Magdala, once home to Mary Magdalene, visit a recently discovered first?century synagogue and the Women's Atrium, dedicated to the presence of women in the Gospel. Travel through the Valley of the Doves on the way back to Tiberias to visit the Hot Springs (Khamat Teveria) before returning to our hotel for dinner.

Day 4 January 26 – Cana, Nazareth Focus: Mary, Widow of Nain, Anna, women’s life in 1st Century Israel

Recall Jesus’ first miracle as we pass through Cana (John 2), then on to Nain, the city where Jesus resurrected a widow's only son (Luke 7). Later, at Nazareth, the boyhood home of Jesus (Luke 2), we will pray in the Church of the Annunciation and visit Mary’s Well. Then journey through Samaria and the Jordan Valley to Bethlehem for dinner and overnight.

Day 5 January 27 – Jericho: Focus Rehab

As we stop in Jericho to view the ruins of the city conquered by Joshua (Josh. 6:1, 2, 20), in the distance, we will also see the traditional site of the Temptation of Jesus (Matt. 4:1?11) and make a short stop at the only sycamore tree in this oasis town. Here we will recall the story of Zacchaeus (Luke 19:1?10). If time permits, we will visit the Dead Sea and perhaps enjoy a short dip in its salty waters. Then on to the Baptismal Site at Kasr el Yehud where many believe that Jesus was baptized by John the Baptist (John 1). Here we can renew our own baptismal vows.

Day 6 January 28 – Bethlehem and Jerusalem Focus: Mary, Ruth and Naomi

In Bethlehem, visit the cave revered as Jesus’ birthplace and see the Church of the Nativity constructed over the site (Matt. 1:18?25). Gaze out over Shepherds’ Field and visit the Shepherds' Field Church and Grotto before we return to Jerusalem. View the Old City of Jerusalem from the Mt. of Olives, then walk the Palm Sunday Path down to the Church of Dominus Flevit (where Jesus wept for the people of Jerusalem) then continue to the Garden of Gethsemane and envision the scenes of the night before Jesus’ crucifixion (Matt. 26:36?44). Pray at the Church of All Nations before arriving at our Jerusalem hotel for dinner and overnight.

Day 7 January 29 – Jerusalem and the Old City Focus: Anne, Mary Magdalene, Mary, Salome, Prophetess Anna

View the Pool of Bethesda where Jesus performed the Sabbath miracle (John 5:1?31). Sing a hymn in the Church of St. Anne and experience its rich acoustics. Visit Herod’s Antonia Fortress, where Jesus appeared before Pontius Pilate (Luke 23:1), and follow in Christ’s steps on the Via Dolorosa ("the Way of the Cross"). At the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, take time to reflect on His sacrificial love in the Chapel of Mary Magdalene. Visit the Tomb of the Resurrection. Journey through the Cardo to the Western Wall. End our day and this pilgrimage with a Prayer Service at the Garden Tomb.

Day 8 January 30 – Return to the USA

Return home with a new understanding of the Gospels and inspired by the Women of the Scriptures.
