David Faust is currently Associate Minister at East 91st Street Christian Church and focuses on biblical teaching, leadership development and pastoral care. He was senior minister at E91 from 1999 - 2002 and then president of Cincinnati Christian University for 12 years. He has planted churches, written 15 books and writes a weekly column for THE LOOKOUT magazine.

Daily Itinerary

Day 1 Depart the USA

Your pilgrimage begins as you depart the USA.

Day 2 Arrive in Rome

Arrive in Rome, and if time permits, take a panoramic tour of the Eternal City before embarking on the luxurious Celebrity Constellation. 

Day 3 At Sea

Spend a day at sea aboard the Celebrity Constellation.  

Day 4 Valletta, Malta

Paul was shipwrecked on Malta around 60 AD (Acts 27:39-28:10). Visit the Upper Barracca Gardens (on foot) and enjoy a panoramic view of Malta's natural harbors and the historic cities of Senglea, Cospicua, and Vittoriosa. Explore St. John's Co-Cathedral. Don't be put off by its somewhat plain exterior. The Interior of the Cathedral is lavishly decorated in gold, silver marble and vibrant paintings including Caravaggio's masterpiece, The Beheading of John the Baptist, the only work the painter ever signed.

Day 5 Valletta, Malta (On Own)

Explore Malta on your own today or book one of Celebrity's excursions. You could choose to visit Mdina and it's 9th century cathedral and stop at the Ta'Qali Handicrafts Village to learn about glass-blowing. Another option is a boat ride to the Blue Grotto and a visit to Marsaxlokk with time to explore this quaint village. Shore excursions are booked through Celebrity.

Day 6 At Sea

Spend a day at sea aboard the Celebrity Constellation.  

Day 7 At Sea

Spend a day at sea aboard the Celebrity Constellation.  

Day 8 Bethlehem, Israel

Visit Bethlehem where you’ll visit the cave revered as the place where Jesus was born (Matt. 1; Luke 2). The church, which was constructed on the site, is the world’s oldest functioning church.  

Day 9 Jerusalem, Israel

Travel to Jerusalem and visit the Upper Room, the traditional site of the Last Supper. Visit the House of the High Priest Caiaphas, where Jesus was tried before the Sanhedrin. Stand upon the Mount of Olives and view the city as Jesus did. View the olive trees of the Garden of Gethsemane. Enter the Old City and visit the Pool of Bethesda. You’ll walk along the Via Dolorosa to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre.

Day 10 Sea of Galilee, Israel

Travel inland to the Sea of Galilee. You’ll stand on the Mount of the Beatitudes where Jesus gave His most well-known sermon (Matthew 5). At Tabgha, the traditional location for the calling of the disciples and the feeding of the 5000, you’ll visit the Church of the Fish and the Loaves (Luke 9). Visit the Chapel of the Primacy where three times Peter professed his devotion to the risen Christ (John 21). Travel to the shore town of Capernaum where Jesus called Peter, Andrew, James, John (Matt. 4) and later Matthew. Stop by the River Jordan where those who wish to be baptized may do so.

Day 11 At Sea

Spend a day at sea aboard the Celebrity Constellation.  

Day 12 Chania, Crete, Greece

An ancient city on Crete's north coast, Chania overlooks the Aegean against a dramatic mountain backdrop. Its Old Town is a delight of narrow streets of Byzantine, Venetian and Turkish architecture filled with shops, tavernas and cafes. For a gorgeous, panoramic view of the Venetian Harbor and lighthouse visit the Firkas Fort and climb to the top!

Day 13 Mykonos, Greece (On Own)

Have a delightful day exploring the exceptional beauty and culture of the Greek island of Mykonos with its lovely bays and beaches, distinctive whitewashed structures, and cobblestone streets. Shore excursions are booked through Celebrity.

Day 14 Return Home or Join an Extension

Oct. 18 Ancient Rome - Today you’ll explore the many wonders of ancient Rome when you visit the magnificent Colosseum. From the most sacred hill of ancient Rome, Campidoglio, you’ll see the Forum. You’ll also view the Circus Maximus, the Arch of Titus, the famous Baths of Caracalla and the Arch of Constantine as well as the Monti Region and the Victor Emmanuel Monument.

Nov. 1 Athens & Corinth - Travel to Corinth (Acts 18: 1‐18) and visit the Archaeological Museum, the Market Place the Captives Façade and the Asklepion. Among the ruins, we can stand on the Bema where Paul defended the gospel. From a distance, view Acrocorinth. Visit the architectural splendors of the ancient Athens. Journey to the ancient Acropolis where you will see the Propylaea, the Parthenon and the Erectheum. View Mars Hill where Paul preached the gospel (Acts 17: 15‐34). You will also view the Olympic Stadium.
