Daily Itinerary

Day 1 Depart the USA

Your pilgrimage begins as you depart the USA.

Day 2 Arrive in Athens, Greece

Arrive in Athens, Greece and embark on the Azamara Journey.

Day 3 Nafplio, Greece (On Own)

Graced with narrow streets, elegant Venetian homes, neoclassical mansions and plenty of sweeping views of the sea, Nafplio is easy on the eyes. Walk west from the harbor and pass through a rocky arch to discover a stunning view of the 18th century Palamidi fortress. If you’re feeling ambitious, climb the 999 steps (we counted) to the top. To see even more of the picturesque countryside, head to the nearby towns of Mycenae. The former features fantastic ruins that were discovered using Homer’s The Illiad, while the latter features a spectacular canal cut from the rocky shores.
Shore excursions are booked through Azamara.

Day 4 Mykonos, Greece (On Own)

Have a delightful day exploring the exceptional beauty and culture of the Greek island of Mykonos with its lovely bays and beaches, distinctive whitewashed structures, and cobblestone streets.
Shore excursions are booked through Azamara

Day 5 Patmos, Greece

You will set sail for Island of Patmos. Visit the Monastery of St. John, high on the mountain overlooking the entire island. Walk down to the Grotto of the Apocalypse and the caves where the exiled Apostle John lived and inspired by God wrote the Book of Revelation as well as other letters to the early church.

Day 6 Rhodes, Greece (On Own)

Paul visited Rhodes briefly on his way to Jerusalem at the end of his third missionary journey. Over 1,200 years later when Jerusalem fell during the Crusades, the Knights of St. John fled to the island of Rhodes, where they ruled for two centuries. Suleiman the Magnificent finally captured the island, but lost 50,000 men in the campaign. The castles and old town built by the knights are still impressive today. Shore excursions are booked through Azamara.

Day 7 At Sea

Spend a day at sea aboard the Azamara Journey.

Day 8 Bethlehem & Jerusalem, Israel

Journey to Bethlehem, where you’ll visit the cave revered as the place where Jesus was born (Matt. 1; Luke 2). The church, which was constructed on the site, is the world’s oldest functioning church. Travel to Jerusalem and visit the Upper Room, the traditional site of the Last Supper. Visit the House of the High Priest Caiaphas, where Jesus was tried before the Sanhedrin. Stand upon the Mount of Olives and view the city as Jesus did. View the olive trees of the Garden of Gethsemane. Enter the Old City and visit the Pool of Bethesda. You’ll walk along the Via Dolorosa to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre.

Day 12 Santorini, Greece (On Own)

Disembark at Santorini, one of the most beautiful of the Greek islands. Its picturesque whitewashed villages with brilliant blue domes dot the cliffs above the Aegean Sea. The island itself perches on the edges of a volcano whose eruption 3,500 years ago is thought to have led to the collapse of the Minoan civilization. Shore excursions are booked through Azamara.
