Day 1 Depart USA
Depart on your international overnight flight.
Day 2 Arrive in Dublin
Your guide will meet you at the airport and escort you to your bus to begin your tour. Head north through the Boyne Valley to the Hill of Slane. Here St. Patrick lit the first Paschal Fire in 434 in challenge to King Laoghaire’s fire on the nearby Hill of Tara. Walk the grounds of Monasterboice Monastery, where some of the finest 9th century High Crosses can be seen. Founded in 521 AD by St. Buite, the ruins remain a testament to their Christian heritage. Finish your day in Belfast, where you will check into your hotel for dinner and overnight.
Day 3 First Day in Belfast
Today you will have a tour of Belfast with an emphasis on the areas most affected by the confrontations between Catholic and Protestant locals that came to be known as "The Troubles." See Shankill Road and stop at the Crumlin Road Jail. Travel to Stormont and tour the mansion that was home to the Prime Ministers of Northern Ireland.
Day 4 Ancient Christian Ireland
You’ll journey south to a hub of ancient Christianity in Ireland at Downpatrick. See the church and grave of St. Patrick, as well as a visitor’s center that will present the saint’s life. Continue on to Nendrum Monastery, a ruin dating back over a thousand years. Return to Belfast for dinner and overnight.
Day 5 Londonderry/Derry
Travel to Londonderry, whose roots date back to a monastery founded by St. Columba. See the city walls, designed to protect and divide. Walk the Peace Bridge in Derry, a meaningful modern symbol of reconciliation. Return to Belfast for dinner and overnight.
Day 6 Second Day in Belfast
This morning explore the Titanic Center, dedicated to those who labored to build the ship here. This Afternoon, you’ll spend time at the Skainos Center and learn about their Reconciliation ministry. Evening meal will be at the Cathedral Quarter in Belfast.
Day 7 North Coast Tour
Travel north to Bushmills, home to the Irish Whiskey Distiller, enjoy a tour of the distillery and showroom. Those who are not faint of heart can cross the Carrick Rope Bridge. Continue to the Giant’s Causeway. Sometimes dubbed "The 8th Wonder of the World," the Causeway is an amazing sight with its 40,000 basalt columns rising from the sea. Legend has it that the Causeway was the path built by Irish giant Finn McCool to enable him to fight the giant across the Irish Sea in Scotland. Return to Belfast for dinner and overnight.
Day 8 Transfer to Dublin for return flights
Return home with memories of the people and places of Northern Ireland.
