Day 1 USA to Israel
Depart USA for our Journey of a Lifetime. Appropriate meals will be served in flight.
Day 2 Arrive Tel Aviv
This afternoon we arrive in Tel Aviv. We have a brief drive by the old port of Jaffa, where Simon the Tanner’s House was. We continue to our resort on the beach in Netanya for dinner and overnight.
Day 3 Caesarea, Mt. Carmel, Megiddo, Nazareth, Cana
This morning after our first Israeli breakfast, we travel a short distance to Caesarea, where Peter preached to Cornelius, the first Gentile convert. It was here that Paul was imprisoned before going to Rome. We continue to Mt. Carmel, where Elijah had the contest with the prophets of Baal. Continue on to Megiddo, Biblical Armageddon, we view the excavations. We will view the hometown of our Lord in Nazareth and view the Precipice, where He escaped those who would stone him. We make our final stop at the tiny town of Cana, where He performed His first miracle, by turning the water into wine. We arrive at our home for the next few nights on the beautiful Sea of Galilee for dinner and overnight.
Day 4 Sea of Galilee Area
With your Bible in hand, cross the waters of the Sea of Galilee aboard a Kinnereth Sailing Company boat. Visit Kibbutz Nof Ginnosar and see the "Jesus Boat", a rare and excellent example of the kind of boat in which Jesus would have sailed. You'll arrive in Capernaum where Jesus chose to center his ministry. Visit the synagogue site where Jesus most certainly taught and worshiped (Matt. 4:13; Mark 3: 1, 8:5 and 14). Visualize life in Jesus' day when you visit Chorazim, a reconstructed city which, along with Capernaum, was cursed by Jesus because the inhabitants did not comprehend His teachings (Matt. 11: 21-22). Travel to the Mount of Beatitudes where Jesus preached to the multitudes (Matt. 5-7). At Tabgha, you'll visit the Church of The Multiplication of the fishes and loaves (Luke 9: 10-17), and the Chapel of St. Peter which recalls Jesus' instruction to Peter, "Feed my sheep" (John 21:15-17). Continue to Kursi, where Jesus drove the demons into the pigs. Return to our hotel for dinner and overnight.
Day 5 Sea of Galilee Area
Today we visit the ancient Tel of Hazor. Continue to Tel Dan, then on to Caesarea Philippi where Peter made the “Great Confession.” We will ascend Mt. Hermon, where many believe the Transfiguration took place. Return to our hotel for dinner, before going to the “Galilee Experience” presentation, giving an excellent presentation of the history of the Galilee area.
Day 6 Beth Shean, Baptismal Site, Ein Gedi, Masada
Early this morning we head south to visit Beth Shean, where the Philistines hung the bodies of Saul and Jonathan. We continue to Ein Gedi, where David hid from Saul. A brief stop at Qumran, where the Dead Sea Scrolls were discovered. We make our way to Masada, where the small band of Jewish Zealots held out against the Roman Army, finally committing suicide rather than surrendering to the Romans. There will be time for a quick dip in the Dead Sea (you can’t sink!). We continue to Jerusalem for dinner and overnight at our beautiful hotel.
Day 7 Jerusalem Sightseeing
This morning we will visit the ancient City of David to see the new excavations. We will enjoy a visit to the Southern Steps, or the "Teaching Steps," where no doubt our Lord entered the Temple. Stand atop the Mount of Olives as Jesus did and enjoy a remarkable view of the "Golden City" of Jerusalem, including the Temple Mount and Dome of the Rock. Visit the Garden of Gethsemane where Jesus prayed for God's will to be done (Matt. 26:30). Forty days after his resurrection, Jesus ascended into heaven from the Mount of Olives (Acts 1:16). You'll also visit the Chapel of the Ascension. Dinner and overnight at our hotel.
Day 8 To Beersheba
Today we travel south, where we view the Valley of Elah, where David slew Goliath. Continue to Beersheba, where Abraham dug his 7 wells. We will view the home of David Ben Gurion, founder of modern day Israel. Return to Jerusalem for dinner and overnight.
Day 9 Jerusalem Area
Enter the Old City of Jerusalem where everyday life and customs within narrow, crooked streets have remained much the same over the centuries. We will visit the Temple Institute, where they are making articles for the new Temple. Touch a piece of the Temple when you say a prayer for peace at the Western Wall. Walk the Rabbi’s Tunnel along the original Temple wall. Sing a hymn in the Church of St. Anne and view the Pool of Bethesda (John 5:1-24) where Jesus performed the Sabbath miracle. Retrace the events in the final hours of Jesus' life as you walk the Via Dolorosa, "the Way of the Cross". Visit Herod's Antonia Fortress (Matt. 27:11). Finally, visit the possible site of Jesus' death and resurrection, the Church of the Holy Sepulcher. On Mount Zion you will view the site of King David's Tomb. Stand in the Upper Room, revered as the site of the Last Supper (Mark 14: 12-26). Visit the House of the High Priest Caiaphas (Matt. 26:57) where Jesus was imprisoned for a night. Spend some time in worship at the Garden Tomb (Matt. 27:60). After dinner we make our way to Tel Aviv for our flight back to the USA.
Day 10 Arrive Home
Today we will arrive home, our hearts filled with many fond memories of this Journey of a Lifetime.
