Daily Itinerary

Day 1 February 7 – Depart USA

Your pilgrimage begins as you depart the USA on an overnight flight.

Day 2 February 8 – Arrive Holy Land

Arrive in Tel Aviv and transfer to Bethlehem for dinner and overnight. (Bethlehem)

Day 3 February 9 – Bethlehem, Jordan River and Jericho

Enjoy interaction with students at Hope School. In Bethlehem, visit the cave revered as Jesus’ birthplace and see the Church of the Nativity constructed over the site (Matthew 1: 18 -25). Gaze out over the Shepherds’ Field, where angels first proclaimed the Good News. Visit the baptismal site of Qasr el Yehud, where tradition says Jesus was baptized by John the Baptist. Journey to Jericho (considered the oldest city in the world) to visit the ruins of the ancient city conquered by Joshua (Joshua 6:1). Take the Gondola to the Mount of Temptation, where tradition holds Jesus was Tempted Three times (Matthew 4). (Bethlehem)

Day 4 February 10 – Masada, Ein Gedi, and Qumran

Ascend by cable car to Masada, Herod’s legendary mountaintop fortress which became the last desperate stronghold of the Jewish Zealots against the Romans. Continue to Ein Gedi, where David hid from King Saul and walk to the Waterfall there. Stop for a visit to Qumran, the discovery site of the Dead Sea Scrolls. End your day with a dip in the salt and mineral-laden waters of the Dead Sea. Check in to your Galilee hotel for dinner and overnight. (Galilee)

Day 5 February 11 – The Galilee

Sail across the Sea of Galilee and experience a special onboard worship service. Visit Kibbutz Nof Ginosar and learn about the “Ancient Boat”, a rare and excellent example of the kind of boat in which Jesus would have sailed. On the Mount of Beatitudes, contemplate the “Sermon on the Mount” (Matt. 5-7). As you pray in the Chapel of the Primacy, remember how Peter professed his devotion to the risen Christ three times (John 21). Enjoy beautiful Capernaum, the center of Jesus’ ministry, and visit the synagogue located on the site where Jesus taught (Matthew 4:13, 23). Visit the Church of the Fish and the Loaves in Tabgha, the traditional location of the feeding of the 5,000 (Luke 9:10 -17). (Galilee)

Day 6 February 12 – Megiddo, Nazareth, Sepphoris, Caesarea Maritima and Emmaus

Start the day at Tel Megiddo, an exciting archaeological dig with its layers of twenty different cities built on top of each other. Visit Nazareth, Jesus’ boyhood home. View Cana and the site of Jesus’ first miracle. See the Roman ruins of Sepphoris, thought to be where Joseph and Jesus worked. Visit the Roman Aqueduct and Theatre at Caesarea, a center of early Christianity and where Paul was imprisoned for two years and where the Holy Spirit fell on Gentiles at Cornelius’ house (Acts 10). Journey through the Valley of Elah, where David defeated Goliath (I Samuel 17). In Emmaus, recall how the resurrected Jesus appeared to two of His disciples (Luke 24:13). Check in to your Jerusalem hotel for dinner and overnight. (Jerusalem)

Day 7 February 13 – Jerusalem

Conditions permitting; walk the Temple Mount. Explore the Davidson Center and the Southern Wall Excavations, including the Teaching Steps and the Western Wall. On Mount Zion, see the House of the High Priest Caiaphas, where Jesus was imprisoned the night of His arrest (Matthew 26:57 -65). Nearby is the Upper Room revered as the location of the Last Supper (Mark 14:12 -26). On Mount Zion view the site of King David’s Tomb. You will visit the village of Lazarus and Martha, Bethany, to view the Tomb of Lazarus. (Jerusalem)

Day 8 February 14 – Jerusalem

Be inspired by the breathtaking beauty of Jerusalem (“the Golden City”) as you stand on the Mount of Olives, the place from which Jesus ascended into heaven forty days after His resurrection (Acts 1:9 -12). At Dominus Flevit church, visit the place where Jesus mourned for Jerusalem. Visit both the Church of All Nations and the private garden area across the road for a time of contemplation in the Garden of Gethsemane (Matt. 26:36 -44). Walk through the City of David excavations. Understand better the Jerusalem of Jesus’ day with a look at the First Century Model of the City of Jerusalem, now housed at the Israel Museum. Time permitting we will explore some of the more than 10,000 years of archaeological artifacts housed at the museum. (Jerusalem)

Day 9 February 15 – Jerusalem

Visit the Princess Basma Center this morning. Sing a hymn in the Church of St. Anne, renowned for its beautiful acoustics. View the Pool of Bethesda where Jesus performed the Sabbath miracle (John 5: 1 -31). At Herod’s Antonia Fortress (Luke 23:1), see where Jesus was brought before Pontius Pilate. Walk the Via Dolorosa, “the Way of the Cross,” and stand in reverence at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. Remember the Lord’s sacrificial love at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. Take a leisurely stroll down the Cardo, the main street of the Old City where modern shops stand among ancient ones. Visit the Garden Tomb for a time of reflection and communion. Enjoy dinner and transfer to the airport for your return flight home.

Day 10 February 16 – Return to the USA or Enjoy an Extension

Egyptian Museum of Antiquities; Pyramids of Giza; Great Sphinx; Tour the Old City and see the Citadel of Saladin; View the Alabaster Mosque of Muhammad Ali; Visit the Abu Serga Church; Prepare for your return flight home.
