Daily Itinerary

Day 1 Feb. 3 - Depart the USA

Depart the USA

Day 2 Feb. 4 - Arrival

You will be welcomed to the Holy Land by our airport representative and transferred to your Galilee kibbutz for dinner and overnight.

Day 3 Feb. 5 - From Sea to Sea

Travel to the Mediterranean coast to Caesarea Maritima, the port city of Herod the Great. Wander the extensive excavations that include a massive theater and Roman aqueduct. It was here that Cornelius became the first Gentile convert and Paul was imprisoned before being taken to Rome for trial. Continue to Nazareth, and visit the Church of the Annunciation there.

Day 4 Feb. 6 - Jesus in the Galilee

Sail across the waters of the Sea of Galilee and share in a time of prayer and worship on the water. At Kibbutz Nof Ginosar, view the Ancient Boat, a 2,000+ year old fishing vessel raised from the bottom of Galilee. Stand atop the Mount of Beatitudes, and recall what it means to be truly blessed. Continue to Tabgha, the traditional location of the feeding of the 5,000 to visit the Chapel of Fishes and Loaves. Also visit the nearby Chapel of the Primacy in remembrance of Peter’s confession of faith. Walk the recent excavations of the town of Magdala, connected with Mary Magdalene.

Day 5 Feb. 7 - Upper Galilee

Travel north to Caesarea Philippi on the lower slopes of Mount Hermon. It was here that Peter proclaimed, “You are the Christ” in Matthew 16. See the huge red cliff with its conies and the cave where many have gathered through the centuries to worship various gods including Pan. Perhaps Jesus was standing in front of this very rock face when He proclaimed, “Upon this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.” Travel west to Sepphoris, the cosmopolitan Roman capital of Galilee that was under construction during Jesus’ childhood. It is heralded as the birthplace of Mary. Take a reflective walk on the Jesus Trail, the route Jesus walked from Capernaum to Nazareth through the Valley of the Winds and Doves.

Day 6 Feb. 8 - Cana and Samaria

Visit Cana, the site of Christ’s first miracle. Ascend Mount Tabor which may be the site of Jesus’ Transfiguration before Peter, James and John. Visit modern day Nablus (ancient Shechem) and see Jacob’s Well where Christ encountered the Samaritan woman. See Mt. Ebal and Mt. Gerizim where the Israelites recited the blessings and curses of the Law. Check in to your Bethlehem hotel for dinner and overnight.

Day 7 Feb. 9 - Bethlehem, Jordan River, Jericho

Visit Bethlehem, the little town where Jesus entered the world as a baby. Enter the Church of the Nativity (the oldest functioning church in the world!) and visit the cave beneath the church, thought to be where Jesus was born. Nearby, visit the Shepherds’ Field where the Good News was first heard. Visit the Jordan River baptismal site at Qasr el Yahud, the traditional site of the baptism of Jesus by John the Baptist. Visit the ruins of the ancient city of Jericho, which was long ago conquered by Joshua. From Jericho you can see the traditional site of the Temptation of Jesus and the Judean wilderness. Return to Bethlehem for dinner & overnight.

Day 8 Feb. 10 - Southern Wilderness & Ruins

Explore Masada, the spectacular mountaintop fortress of Herod the Great which is famous as the last stronghold of Jewish Rebellion. Take the cable car to the top and peer down at the Roman camp and siege ramp below. In Qumran you’ll learn about the mysterious Essenes community and the Dead Sea Scrolls that were discovered in a nearby cave. Take a dip in the salt and mineral laden waters of the Dead Sea, which is the lowest geographical point on earth. Continue to a nearby desert oasis for a special dinner where you will enjoy Bedouin hospitality. Those that would like to may take a camel ride in the surrounding desert this evening. Stay overnight in the desert resort cabins.

Day 9 Feb. 11 - Jerusalem

Stand atop the Mount of Olives as Jesus did and enjoy a remarkable view of the “Golden City” of Jerusalem, including the Temple Mount and Dome of the Rock. Walk the Palm Sunday Road to the Garden of Gethsemane and pray among the 2000 year old olive trees. Beneath the Church of St. Peter in Gallicantu, you can walk through some of the ancient rooms of the house belonging to Caiaphas the High Priest. Many believe that Jesus was held overnight here before His crucifixion.

Day 10 Feb. 12 - Jerusalem

Conditions permitting, walk the Temple Mount, once the site of the Temple of Solomon and now home to the Dome of the Rock. Pray alongside the Jewish faithful at the Western Wall. Continue to the Southern Wall Excavations including the Davidson Center & Teaching Steps, where Jesus once taught. Visit the ancient but recently uncovered Pool of Siloam & view the entrance to Hezekiah’s Tunnel.

Day 11 Feb. 13 - Christian Jerusalem

Enter the Lion’s Gate and view the Pool of Bethesda where Jesus performed the Sabbath miracle. Visit Herod’s Antonia Fortress where Jesus was brought before Pontius Pilate. Walk the Via Dolorosa, “the Way of the Cross,” and stand in reverence at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. Visit the Garden Tomb, where you will share communion and prayer as you celebrate the empty grave and our Risen Saviour!
