Daily Itinerary

Day 1 February 7 – Depart USA

Depart the USA on an overnight flight.

Day 2 February 8 – Arrive in Egypt Old Cairo – Roman Tower / Hanging Church / Chapels / Museum of Egyptian Civilizations

After arrival in Cairo, visit the Roman Tower and Hanging church in old Cairo, which is named for its location above a gatehouse of the Roman fortress in Coptic (Old) Cairo, the Babylon Fortress. Visit nearby chapels and the Museum of Egyptian Civilizations featuring a recently established mummy exhibit with 22 kings and queens of the New Kingdom of Ancient Egypt. Dinner and overnight in Cairo.

Day 3 February 9 – Memphis / Sakkara / Giza – Pyramids and Sphinx

Today, visit Memphis, the ancient capital of Egypt dating from 3,100 BC, and the legendary city of Menes, the King who united Upper and Lower Egypt. Proceed to its necropolis of Sakkara, where you will see the world-famous Step Pyramid of King Zoser, the oldest known of Egypt’s 107 pyramids and the world’s first freestanding stone. Visit the famous Pyramids of Giza constructed over 1,000 years before the birth of Moses. See the Great Sphinx and have the opportunity to ride a camel in the desert near the Pyramids. Dinner and overnight in Cairo.

Day 4 February 10 – Morning flight to Aswan / Tour of Dam site / Temple of Philae (by boat) / Board River Cruise Boat / Nubian Village by boat

Following breakfast, board your flight destined for Aswan. Embark on your Nile Cruise prior to Lunch. This afternoon, visit tour the Aswan High Dam, the pride of modern Egypt. Visit the Agha Khan Moslem, the Granite Quarries to see the unfinished obelisk, and the Temples of Philae, where you will visit the Great Temples of Isis and Hathor.

Day 5 February 11 – Kom Ombo / Edfu

Today, sail to Kom Ombo to visit the only temple dedicated to two contrasting gods: Sobek, crocodile headed god of the underworld, and Haroeris, the winged god of the sky. Return to the ship and cruise to Edfu.

Day 6 February 12 – Colossus of Memnon Temple complex / Hatshepsut Temple complex / Felucca Ride / Luxor Temple by night

Your next visit will take you to the Colossi of Memnon, the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut at Deir El Bahari, the Valley of the Kings, and the nearby Valley of the Queens. Enjoy a short ride down the Nile on a traditional Felucca. In the evening, enjoy the magnificent Luxor Temple lit under the night sky.

Day 7 February 13 – Disembark Cruise / Karnak Temple / late afternoon flight to Cairo to Sharm el Sheik

This morning, disembark from your cruise. Continue to the Karnak Temple, which was built over 2000 years ago and is the largest religious building ever constructed. In the afternoon, board your flight for Sharm el Sheik, then continue to St Catherine’s for dinner and overnight.

Day 8 February 14 – 3 am climb up Mount Sinai / Morning visit to St. Catherine’s / Flight to Cairo

Enjoy an early morning opportunity to hike Mt Sinai, where tradition says Moses received the Ten Commandments. Everyone will experience a visit to fortified St. Catherine’s Monastery, built in the sixth century and one of the oldest working monasteries in the world with the world’s oldest continually operating library. Both the Codex Sinaiticus and Syriac Sinaiticus, important early Biblical manuscripts, were discovered here. Even Mohammed found refuge here, and the site is sacred to all three monotheistic religions. Remember the story of Moses and the burning bush which tradition places inside the monastery. Later in the day, board your flight back to Cairo. Dinner and overnight in Cairo.

Day 9 February 15 – Citadel and Mohamed Ali Mosque / Grand Egyptian Museum / Prepare for return flight to USA or flight to Amman for extension guests

This morning, visit the Citadel of Saladin, home to the rulers of Egypt for over 700 years. Nearby, visit the Alabaster mosque of Mohamed Ali. Your guide will then escort you on a tour of 7,000 years of Egyptian history with a visit to the Grand Egyptian Museum, which includes the world-famous golden treasures from King Tutankhamun‘s tomb.

Day 10 February 16 – Return to USA or enjoy an Extension

Travel to Cairo via the route of the Exodus. Overnight in Cairo and prepare for your flights home.
