Arrive this morning at Heathrow airport and meet your tour managers and coaches. Transfer into London for a half day sightseeing tour of this great capital city. Start with a panoramic tour, taking in some of the key sights such as the Houses of Parliament, Trafalgar Square, Buckingham Palace, Piccadilly Circus, St Paul’s Cathedral and Tower Bridge. You will also visit the Tower of London. Work commenced on this riverside fortress 900 years ago, and the structure we see today was completed in the 14th Century. The Tower was the refuge of Richard II during the Peasants’ Revolt, the prison of Sir Thomas More, Sir Walter Raleigh and the future Queen Elizabeth I, and the execution place of Lady Jane Grey (British sovereign for 9 days), Anne Boleyn and Catherine Howard, Henry VIII’s second and fourth queens. Here, you will also see the amazing Crown Jewels. Once inside the Treasury, marvel at the Imperial State Crown worn at the State Opening of Parliament and be dazzled by the world's largest, top-quality cut diamond. Check in to your hotel and the rest of the afternoon is at leisure. Dinner tonight will be at the hotel, followed by a 1.5 hour choir practice in a conference room.

Enjoy a continental breakfast at your hotel. Another 1.5 hour choir practice this morning in the hotel's conference room, then continue your exploration of London with more sightseeing. This will include visits to Westminster Abbey and St. Paul's Cathedral as well as taking in more of the great sights of this city. A Cathedral dedicated to St. Paul has overlooked the City of London since 604 A.D. Its architectural and artistic importance reflect the determination of the five monarchs who oversaw its building that London’s leading church should be as beautiful and imposing as their private palaces. A recital here is an unforgettable experience for any group. Following time for an independent lunch, continue on to Westminster Abbey, an architectural masterpiece of the 13th to 16th centuries. It also presents a unique pageant of British history – the shrine of St. Edward the Confessor, the tombs of kings and queens, and countless memorials to the famous and the great. It has been the setting for every Coronation since 1066 and for numerous other royal occasions including the funeral of Princess Diana in 1997. The rest of the day will be free time. Why not enjoy a spectacular show in London's world-famous West End? Dinner on your own and overnight at your hotel. Lunchtime recital at St. Paul's Cathedral (subject to availability and approval of group)

  4. Day 4 - Friday, June 4, 2010

Enjoy a continental breakfast at your hotel. Depart London today and start your tour of some of the most picturesque areas of England. The day starts with a visit to the mystical and monumental site of Stonehenge. The great and ancient stone circle of Stonehenge is one of the wonders of the world and now a World Heritage Site. What visitors see today are the substantial remnants of the last in a sequence of such monuments erected between circa 3000BC and 1600BC. Magnificent and mysterious, Stonehenge looks out across the great expanse of Salisbury Plain, defying explanation. 5,000-year-old Stonehenge is Europe’s most famous prehistoric site and, though we know from the stone’s alignment that worship of the sun and moon took place here, the rituals themselves and the methods of construction are still shrouded in mystery. Early legends link it with Merlin and King Arthur, but over the last hundred years the midsummer sunrise has attracted pagan groups and followers of the Ancient Order of Druids. After your visit, you will continue on to the beautiful town of Salisbury. The city lies at the confluence of five rivers and the awe-inspiring sight of the Cathedral, rising up from the water-meadows, has been described as ‘Britain’s best view’ by readers of Country Life magazine. You will have free time for your own lunch, shopping in the quaint old streets, and perhaps your own visit to Salisbury Cathedral, one of the finest medieval cathedrals in Britain and the tallest in England (123m/404ft). Started in 1220 it was completed by 1258 to reflect the glory of God in stone and glass, and it has always been a setting for great occasions. Continue on for check in at your hotel in Swindon and some time to settle in, before your transfer for early dinner and performance in Bath. Performance at a church in Bath.

Today enjoy a full English breakfast at your hotel. Return to the beautiful town of Bath this morning for a morning sightseeing tour. Bath owes its magnificent Georgian townscape to the bubbling hot springs of the Roman Baths. The Romans transformed Bath into England’s first spa resort, and it regained fame in the 18th century, when many of the city’s finest Palladian buildings were designed, including Robert Adam’s Pulteney Bridge and the graceful sweep of the Royal Crescent. The city still retains its fashionable air with its smart shops and restaurants. Visit the preserved Baths and the Pump Room, once the social hub of the 18th century spa. After free time for an independent lunch, continue with a short visit into the Principality of Wales. Your first visit will be to Tintern Abbey, a romantic haunt of poets, artists and visitors for centuries. Founded in 1131, the ruined Abbey was once an influential religious centre, becoming the richest Abbey in Wales by the 14th Century. Continue on to the market town of Chepstow, famous for its horseracing and its Norman Castle, started in 1067. Return to your hotel for dinner and overnight.
