Day 7 Stanley, Falkland Islands

Arrive to the capital of the Falkland Islands, also known as Port Stanley and you’ll find a coastal town worthy of a jigsaw puzzle. This quaint city is home to a small population (so few are the residents that the town’s only “jail” can only hold thirteen people.) But it’s a place big on things to see and do. Whether you visit the Anglican Christ Church Cathedral, the southernmost cathedral in the world, or look for penguins.

Day 8 Cape Horn, Chile (scenic cruising)

Cape Horn, the treacherous Antarctic strait connecting the Atlantic and Pacific oceans, was the trade route for clipper ships from the 1500s until the Panama Canal opened in 1915. Sea walls and cliffs still jut almost 1,400 feet from the sea while slabs of ice break off and crash in spectacular fashion.

Day 9 Beagle Channel (scenic cruising)

Bring binoculars and take a seat with a view for our majestic passage through the Beagle Channel in the archipelago of Tierra del Fuego. Named after the first ship to explore the area, the HMS Beagle counted among its crew a then unknown naturalist by the name of Charles Darwin.

Day 10 Ushuaia, Argentina

Charted by Magellan, Cook, and Darwin, Ushuaia is the world’s southernmost city and surrounded by mountains, sea, glaciers and sub Antarctic forests. Hit the trails of Tierra del Fuego National Park to search for wildlife, ancient aboriginal artifacts and a rare bloom that smells like chocolate.

Day 11 Punta Arenas, Chile

As part of a historic trade route, Punta Arenas is a rich mix of cultures and Chilean history. The National Park is a hiker's dream come true, and the Museum showcases regional artifacts. Drop by the square for local arts and crafts and be sure to try a King Crab plate.

Day 12 Straight of Magellan (cruising)

Patagonian channels: Straight of Magellan, Chilean Fjords, & Canal Moreleda (scenic cruising)

Grab your camera and a great seat on deck for cruising the Patagonian channels along the southern coast of Chile. Your splendid sail through the majestic Chilean fjords includes the famous Tierra del Fuego along the Straits of Magellan. Your relaxing passage through some of nature’s most exciting creations offers vistas of azure waters around lesser known fjords as well as the world famous lighthouses of Cape Horn.
