Depart USA on your international Flight. (Note – those making their own arrangements will start with EOX on Day 2).
Transfer from the airport to your transportation to begin your travel in Ireland. (Transfer included if air purchased through EOX or if you provide EOX with your flight information at least one month prior to your departure. Those not providing their air information must arrive at the airport to join the tour by 10 am or make their own way to Galway on their own). This afternoon you will visit Clonmacnoise, an important monastic site and the burial place of kings. Among these fascinating ruins is the famous thousand-year-old cross the cathedral ruins and parts of eight churches. There are two round towers to capture your imagination. Continue to Galway for a walking tour of the city center before checking into your hotel.
This morning you will visit the Connemara Region, famous for its rugged scenery. The National Park consists of 5,000 acres where ponies and Irish red deer roam freely. The scenic mountains, bogs and grasslands are a feast for the eyes. The region is world famous for its green and white marble. You will stop at beautiful Kylemore Abbey run by the Benedictine Nuns. This granite and limestone structure is one of most photographed buildings in the country. See the town where the Quiet Man with john Wayne and Maureen O’Hara was filmed. Then return to Galway. (B)
Today travel through the through the Burren Region of eroded limestone rock which flowers pop up through the crevices. Continue to the Cliffs of Moher, sheer cliffs dropping 600 feet to the water below, one of the most impressive stretches of shoreline on the west coast of Ireland. Pass through the ever-changing patchwork of green landscape and ruins to Bunratty Castle, near the town of Limerick. Bunratty is Ireland’s most complete and authentic, elaborately furnished medieval castle. This afternoon you will drive through Killarney National Park, home to an everchanging view of mounts, lakes, and woods. Check into your Killarney hotel. opt for an optional buggy ride back into the park if you like (Purchased on site – around $11 Euros). (B)
